Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework

Our programs are guided by;

  • National Quality Framework (NQF)

  • Belonging, Being and Becoming: The Early Years Learning Framework for Australia (EYLF)

  • Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLF)

The EYLF and VEYLF both support the development of the following outcomes for children;

  • Children have a strong sense of identity

  • Children are connected with and contribute to their world

  • Children have a strong sense of wellbeing

  • Children are confident and involved learners

  • Children are effective communicators

The National Quality Standard sets a national benchmark for the quality of education and care services.

Every service in the country will be assessed under the National Quality Standard which consists of seven quality areas each containing standards and elements.

The seven quality areas covered by the National Quality Standard are:

  1. Educational program and practice

  2. Children’s health and safety

  3. Physical environment

  4. Staffing arrangements

  5. Relationships with children

  6. Collaborative partnerships with families and communities

  7. Leadership and service management

Every service receives a rating for each quality area and an overall rating.

These ratings must be displayed by each service.

There are five rating levels within the national quality rating and assessment process:

  • Excellent rating, awarded by ACECQA

  • Exceeding National Quality Standard

  • Meeting National Quality Standard

  • Working Towards National Quality Standard

  • Significant Improvement Required

Friend Street Kindergarten has achieved the overall rating of Meeting the National Quality Standards.
